Founder Shawneice Moore describes her brand as “strength in your wardrobe.” At its core, Uniquely Complex is a women’s apparel brand that prioritizes individuality, self-love, and style that stands apart. “We purposely only get a little bit of each size for the pieces we carry,” she explains. “We want people to truly feel like what they’re wearing is unique—like they won’t see it on everyone else.”

What started in 2020 as a self-love blog and evolved into a devotional book has grown into a fashion-forward boutique experience with personal styling services and now, a new home at Market 5 in Charles City County.

“I actually began as a blog,” Shawneice says. “I created a 30-day self-love devotional, and while I was planning my book signing, I couldn’t find anything that matched my style. I thought—if I can’t find it, I’ll create it. That’s how Uniquely Complex was born.”

Already the owner of a brick-and-mortar location in Richmond, Shawnice is excited about what Market 5 offers—especially its consistent hours and structured environment. “This is a level-up for my business,” she says. “Being open more days of the week gives us more reach and more opportunity to connect with new customers.”

Shawneice originally learned about Market 5 through Charles City County Administrator Michelle Johnson’s Facebook page. Though she thought she’d missed the application deadline, she reached out anyway—only to find out they were still accepting new vendors. “It felt meant to be,” she says.

At Uniquely Complex, customers can shop curated, limited-quantity apparel or take things a step further with personal styling services. Whether you need a statement look for a special event or a complete wardrobe refresh, Shawnice and her team are ready to help. “We offer style boards, one-on-one consultations—it’s like having your own personal shopper.”

Her goal? For customers to walk in and instantly feel a shift. “I want people to feel brighter, lighter—happier—just from being in the space,” she says. “And of course, to leave with something that makes them feel amazing.”
